104: Selling your genius with a unique offer

One of the most maddening, frustrating, and rewarding parts of building a business  is the desire to create the perfect offer. There are about a million ways to package your genius. Whether it’s a VIP day, a membership, a group program, or a one-on-one offer, it can be hard to decide which option will serve your clients best.

In this episode of The Uncommon Couch, I’m sharing the six things to consider when creating and selling your genius. We have to let go of the idea that there is a perfect way to do this  because that will really drive you crazy trying to figure it out. It’s almost impossible to create the perfect offer and have it sell on the first try. Instead, we need to think about this experience as iterative and experimental.

I know how frustrating it is to put your time and energy into creating an offer that doesn't sell. Everyone has been there. The only difference between those that are successful and those that aren’t is if you kept going or not. If you’re committed to the idea of creating a unique offer, you have to keep trying.

What you’ll find in this episode:

  • The basics of what an offer is

  • Packaging your offers in a way that feels good for you

  • Why you need to go beyond the modality and find your magic

  • Focusing on the problem you solve and the results you achieve

  • The importance of believing in your offer

Quotes:

“It does take some fortitude. It takes some just peace with yourself and ego strength to really figure out what's going on and to keep at it.” [00:03:35] –Alyssa

“I'm guessing you wouldn't try a new recipe, decide that it didn't come out right, and then throw away all of your pots and pans in a moment of frustration, vowing never to cook again. That would be ridiculous. So offer creation is much the same way. It is iterative, messy, frustrating, rewarding, creative, profitable. But it needs to be approached with the right mental frame.” [00:03:44] –Alyssa

“One of the secrets that I've learned about offer creation is that you need to love it. You need to create something based on what feels right to you. And it needs to make sense with your ideal clients. It does not need to be based solely on what they want or it won't feel good to you.” [00:07:05] –Alyssa

“Sometimes when your offer doesn't sell, it could just be a redirect.” [00:22:35] –Alyssa
